Sevilla open to Jordan offers

Sevilla are prepared to listen to offers for Joan Jordan in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports.

The midfielder rose through the youth ranks at Espanyol and earned first-team promotion in 2015. He joined Real Valladolid on a season-long loan the following year, and when the deal expired, he made a permanent move to SD Eibar for €1 million. In the summer of 2019 he signed a four-year contract with Sevilla, for which the Andalusian club reportedly paid €14m.

A highly versatile player, Jordan is primarily a box-to-box midfielder, but he is capable of sitting deeper and shielding the back line, as well as playing further up as a number 10 if need be.

Even though his contract runs until the end of the 2022-23 season, Sevilla are prepared to talk …

RB Leipzig close in on Olmo

According to a recent report from Calciomercato, Bundesliga high-flyers RB Leipzig are edging closer and closer to completing the signing of Dinamo Zagreb star Dani Olmo. The winger has been at the heart of so much speculation across the last few weeks if not months, with a parade of clubs from around Europe making it crystal clear that they want to bring him on.

The AC Milan target seemed to be leaning towards the San Siro at one stage, but now, it appears as if the plans have changed.

Leipzig are in a real position of power as they sit four points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table and are also awaiting their incredibly winnable Round of 16 tie in the UEFA Champions League against Tottenham Hotspur.

Momentum is such a huge thing in this game and r…

Perez reveals Modric new contract agreement

Real Madrid president Florentina Perez has revealed that the club has agreed a new contract with Luka Modric.

The 35-year-old Croatian midfielder, who joined Madrid from Tottenham in 2012, is out of contract in June.

Reports in January alleged that a new deal between Modric and Madrid had been agreed although nothing had ever been announced.

Perez confirmed those reports on Wednesday when discussing the European Super League, while also providing an update on out-of-contract Sergio Ramos.

[Modric] has already signed or we have reached an agreement a long time ago, Perez said.

Ramos is not in the same situation. We have spoken many times but I do not know, I do not want to blame anyone.

Perez refused to be drawn on 35-year-old club capta…

Wales v England: Three Lions always look to play positively – Rashford

Marcus Rashford shrugged off the suggestion England are too conservative under Gareth Southgate as he insisted they have a killer instinct.

England drew 0-0 with the United States on Friday, in a World Cup match that saw both teams only accumulate a combined 1.4 expected goals (xG).

The draw leaves England – 6-2 victors over Iran in their opening match – on four points at the top of Group B, meaning they only need to avoid defeat against neighbours Wales on Tuesday to guarantee qualification.

A win would confirm their place as group winners, but manager Southgate has been criticised in some quarters for his pragmatic approach.

Yet with England having reached a World Cup semi-final in 2018 and a final at the delayed Euro 2020 last year, Rashford does n…

Rudiger ´fully committed´ to Chelsea despite uncertainty over new contract

Antonio Rudiger insists he is fully committed to the cause at Chelsea even though there are no guarantees he will sign a new contract.

The centre-back is free to negotiate with foreign clubs as his deal expires at the end of the season, with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid among the teams said to be interested.

According to some reports, Rudiger, who turns 29 in March, wants to be made the highest-paid defender in the Premier League if he is to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Negotiations over a new deal appear to have stalled, but the Germany international says his commitment to the club will not waver even while talks drag on.

Like always, I m fully committed to the cause, he told Sky Sports.

Talks are between my side and the club, and that …

Hummels wake-up call for quiet men of Dortmund

Mats Hummels has called for Borussia Dortmund to find their voice and become a big noise again after admitting the team can be a bit quiet .

It is coming up to 23 years since Dortmund won their only Champions League title, and almost seven years since they last reached the final of Europe s top club competition.

Domestically, they have been left standing by Bayern Munich s dominance of the Bundesliga, with Dortmund s back-to-back titles in 2011 and 2012 followed by seven in a row by the Bavarians.

Hummels swapped Bayern for Dortmund last June, joining for a second spell with the club, and the former BVB club captain believes that, as a senior figure in Lucien Favre s squad, he can play a motivating role.

I try to fill the role with life and take respon…

Messi and Modric: Two greats looking to cement their legacies with World Cup glory

There should be little argument where Lionel Messi stands among the pantheon of greats.

Whether he is the greatest of all time (GOAT, as the cool kids say) or just one of the very best to ever play the beautiful game, as if that wasn t enough – well, that debate will probably go on forever.

Winning the World Cup, or so far failing to do so in Messi s case, is what has been widely used by some to insist the Barcelona great cannot be considered as the best ever.

So, at what the 35-year-old has said will be his final World Cup, what more of a fitting way to bow out than to lead Argentina s charge to success.

Messi is certainly leading the charge, too. He seems a man possessed, single-handedly dragging Lionel Scaloni s side through against Australia in the …

Benzema´s France recall came out of the blue for Valbuena: ´Did Deschamps call me? No´

Mathieu Valbuena revealed he was not consulted by Didier Deschamps over the surprise recall of Karim Benzema to the France squad.

Real Madrid striker Benzema is due to stand trial in October regarding an allegation of complicity in the attempted blackmail of former France team-mate Valbuena over a sex tape.

The 33-year-old Benzema strenuously denies putting pressure on Valbuena to pay the alleged blackmailers, who were said to be threatening to release a video featuring the former Marseille and Lyon player.

Since the claims of blackmail emerged in late 2015, Benzema was dropped from the France squad and looked to have no future with Les Bleus, at least until his case was heard in court.

However, a surprise recall came on Tuesday when Benzema was select…

Ibrahimovic targets silverware after signing new Milan deal

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has set his sights on bringing Milan back where they deserve to be after signing a new one-year contract with the Serie A club.

The former Sweden captain made a considerable impact following his arrival in January, scoring 11 goals in 20 appearances.

He has now penned a fresh deal with the club and expects the Rossoneri to challenge for silverware in the 2020-21 campaign.

I came here to bring Milan back to their level, where they deserve to be,  he told Milan TV. I do everything to achieve the goals I set.

We have to work and sacrifice, but the last six months we have shown we have what it takes to reach certain goals.

We must not forget, however, that we have not won anything. In my head, the goal is always to win s…

Inter Miami sign former MLS MVP Martinez as Higuain replacement

Josef Martinez has left Atlanta United for Inter Miami, replacing the retired Gonzalo Higuain.

Miami announced the deal on Wednesday after Atlanta confirmed they had agreed a contract buyout with the player.

Martinez had been with Atlanta since their debut MLS season in 2018 and is the club s record scorer with 111 goals.

In the 2018 season, he teamed up with Miguel Almiron to lead the Five Stripes to MLS Cup glory.

Martinez was the MLS MVP, MLS All-Star MVP and MLS Cup MVP in that campaign, as well as winning the Golden Boot and scoring the opening goal in the title match.

Atlanta went on to win the U.S. Open Cup and Campeones Cup the following year but have increasingly struggled since Almiron s record-breaking move to Newcastle United in the Pr…
