Huddersfield topple leaders Fulham and boost own promotion prospects

Danny Ward and Duane Holmes were on target as Huddersfield pulled off an impressive 2-1 win at Fulham, the Championship leaders.

Carlos Corberán’s Terriers consolidated their position in the play-off positions thanks to two first-half goals. Ward netted in the 31st minute before Holmes doubled the lead from the penalty spot two minutes before the break after the Fulham goalkeeper Marek Rodak had been adjudged to have fouled Sorba Thomas. Bobby Decordova-Reid pulled a late goal back but Marco Silva’s side had to swallow a first league defeat since 20 December.

Huddersfield had the ball in the back of the Fulham net in the 14th minute but Thomas, who had earlier tested Rodak, had strayed offside before setting up…

Manchester United give Antony leave of absence to address allegations against him

Antony has been given a leave of absence by Manchester United to allow the Brazilian to deal with a number of allegations of violence against women.

The 23-year-old’s former partner Gabriela Cavallin made numerous accusations against Antony, which are being investigated by police in Greater Manchester and which he denies. Since the first set of allegations were made public, two other women have come forward to claim Antony was violent towards them, allegations which he vehemently denied in an interview on Brazilian TV.

Browns S Rodney McLeod to retire after 2024 season

Cleveland Browns safety Rodney McLeod said he plans to retire following the 2024 NFL season. McLeod, who turns 34 in June, missed the last seven games of the 2023 campaign with a biceps injury. "This is the last lap for me. It's been a long career," he told NFL Network on Tuesday. "I'm looking forward to rocking out with my teammates this year, giving it all and hopefully ending up where we want to be, which is the last dance at the end of the year." McLeod has played in 166 games (143 starts) since signing with the then-St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2012. He has registered 18 career interceptions and 718 tackles with the Rams (2012-15), Philadelphia Eagles (2016-21), Indianapolis Colts (2022) and Browns. He won Super Bowl LII with the Eag…

We have some issues with ESPN’s Top 10 QB list for 2022

It’s mid-July, and we’re getting ever so close to NFL training camps opening, and you can feel the anticipation. Along with that comes a whole host of pundits writing lists ranking players at various positions — most notably, quarterback. ESPN caused an uproar over the weekend when it released its Top 10 QBs heading into the 2022 campaign. The list 10. Dak Prescott 9. Deshaun Watson 8. Russell Wilson 7. Justin Herbert 6. Matthew Stafford 5. Joe Burrow 4. Tom Brady 3. Josh Allen 2. Patrick Mahomes 1. Aaron Rodgers No Respect The first glaring omission on this list is Lamar Jackson, the Rodney Dangerfield of NFL QBs because he “ don’t get no respect.” It’s like everyone has short-term memory loss. The Ravens were one of the elite AFC teams last season, while Jackso…

Oh. So THAT'S A Bung

The big "shocking" report from the BBC about a brewing soccer scandal in Europe has finally aired, and it turns out that the problem is … bungs! Hey! We're Americans! What's a bung, buggers? Well, it turns out that a bung is a "payment made outside agreed terms, less like a bribe and more like a tip. A bung might be paid to a manager bringing in a player, or letting one go." GOT IT. And apparently it kind of sort of is rocking Euro soccer after the BBC's report last evening. How earthshattering is it? Well, the report says there's a "Bung Culture," which typically involves a petri dish. Sorry, sorry: We can't get past this "bung" thing. But we're gonna try anyway. The only real issue, according to Soccernista, is…

Fan Violence Is Out Of Control At Euro 2016

While “fan” violence in Europe in 2016 is, sadly, by no means out of the ordinary, the kinds of sustained and coordinated attacks we’ve seen at such a high-profile international event like Euro 2016 these past few days is pretty shocking. We have Englishmen taunting local fans, locals orchestrating quick hit-and-runs on Englishmen at the bars they’ve congregated at, trained Russian thugs ruthlessly pummeling the English in days-long attacks, French riot police attempting to staunch the violence through more violence, and UEFA threatening to kick teams out of the tournament if fans don’t be have. The Euros have only just started and it’s already a full-blown shitshow. The most significant clashes this past week involved attacks against England fans in Marseille. That city was …

The First Weird Baseball Injury Of 2013: Twins Reliever Breaks Ribs During "Horseplay"

Troy McClure warned us, but did we listen? We did not. After TwinsFest at Target Field two weeks ago, Minnesota reliever Anthony Swarzak got into a good-natured tussle. "When he was up here for TwinsFest, he was messing around with a couple guys and cracked a couple ribs, so he'll be out a month," Ryan said. "He was wrestling around. It was some horseplay. He was out with a couple friends and the team and cracked a couple ribs fooling around. It wasn't a fight or anything. It was just bad judgment wrestling around." This goes down as a "non-baseball-related injury," but there's nothing more baseball than a player hurting himself doing something foolish or mundane. Swarzak will be out about a month, rough timing considering pitchers and ca…

Dr. Sanjay Gupta to Chris Cuomo: Please Take a Day Off, Man

data-mm-id=”_djw5qtkgq”>CNN's Chris Cuomo announced yesterday that he's batting COVID-19. He's quarantined in his basement where he continues to do his primetime show through some rather harrowing symptoms, which he described in detail Wednesday night. "It was like somebody was beating me like a pinata," he said. "I was shivering so much, that Sanjay’s right, I chipped my tooth,” Cuomo added. “These are not cheap, OK? They call them the rigors, like rigors, r-i-g-o-r-s. But rigors. So the sun comes up. I was up all night. I tell you, I was hallucinating. My dad was talking to me.” Dr. Sanjay Gupta, ever the voice of reason, stepped in and suggested what so many at home were likely suggesting: that maybe, just maybe, Cuomo should get some rest and f…
